Arts Society Ashdown Forest - The Dutch Golden Age in 6 Painting by Mariska Beekenkamp-Wladimiroff

The 17th century in the Netherlands was the time of Rembrandt and Vermeer, of extraordinary riches and incredible progress. There may be no other country in which in the brief span of one hundred years so many paintings were executed.
This talk will use six paintings to introduce how the arts flourished in this tiny republic in this period. With their help we will look at the Dutch, their cities, landscapes, society, beliefs and artistic genres.
Join Mariska as she introduces this unequalled century of aesthetic production, and enjoy these magnificent paintings together, and get a greater understanding of these down to earth, relatable and ordinary scenes of daily life.
Mariska has a BA and MA in Art History, majoring in the Dutch Baroque Arts from the 17th century, from the Courtauld Institute of Arts. After time as a college lecturer she established her company Art Historical London, which offers lectures, museum visits, courses, tours, travel and events.
She is an experienced lecturer, for Dulwich Picture Gallery, and organisations in the USA, Australia, and the Netherlands and of course for Arts Societies here in the UK. Refreshments after the lecture.
