The Weald has long been famous for its iron industry. From the late 14th Century, when the blast furnace was introduced to the Weald, some of the region's furnaces specialised in gun-founding. In this talk, Jeremy Hodgkinson will trace the development of the gun founding trade, as well as some of the personalities involved, up to about 1760.
