This briefing looks at the same evidence seen at Westminster by MP's and others in November. It aims to cut through disinformation, establish a common understanding of the risks we face, and support constructive discussion about what happens next.
This is important as the UK faces growing risks from Climate and Nature breakdown - from extreme weather, repeated poor harvests, to economic disruption of global food and energy supplies and associated national security threats.
Has the public ever been given a full and clear national briefing by experts on the scale of these risks?
No. Yet as we have seen several times recently it’s already affecting us & our futures as fuel and particularly food prices spike up and then do not come down as much after the spike ends. UK & Global farmers are genuinely struggling with the changes.
These challenges are why large numbers of differing organisations want Government to hold an emergency briefing from leading experts for the general public. This will allow us to see what climate and nature changes are already doing and expected to do.
By doing so politicians will know what polls already show. Open, honest and science based discussion, kept up to date is wanted by society so we can agree and share in what to do rather than leaving it to generally short term and sound-bite based decision making.
It's genuinely about what we can do - both together and individually - to prepare for what's expected and respond as things change.
The Free screening of the Briefing lasts under an hour and covers 9 aspects of all of our lives.
The screenings will be followed by a facilitated discussion, creating a calm, inclusive and non-judgmental civic space where diverse audiences can engage seriously with the evidence, connect locally, and build a shared sense of understanding, confidence in what can be done and practically, the next steps required.
This can help individuals, organisations, businesses and councils see for themselves what may need facing so everyone can start planning and acting in ways appropriate to their situations.
