The dramatic story of the cut-throat race between electricity titans Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse to determine whose electrical system would power the modern world. Edison favoured direct current and Westinghouse alternating current and their rivalry became a titanic war of personalities and ideas. Edison is mercurial, bullish, less “establishment”; Westinghouse is a wealthy businessman, hoping for a compromise in which they monopolise America’s energy market together.
