We look forward to welcoming Jo Walton who is a freelance lecturer and art historian. Jo read art history at Leicester University followed by a diploma in Oxford. After a successful career in the book trade, eventually running a specialist art bookshop in London, much of Jo's work now is with The Arts Society, the National Gallery, and the Art Fund, as well as local art groups and societies.
We shall look at British artists directly involved in the First World War who produced some of the most moving (and shocking) images of the past century. We shall also explore those artists whose creations became vitally important for Britain's self-image during the Second World War and how they contributed to the war effort.
Refreshments will be served from 10.45am before the first lecture. There will be a short break before the second lecture, after which we conclude our event with a delicious light lunch to be served in the hall.
This Special Interest Morning is £28 per person and includes lunch.
