Appeal for information after dog incident in Eastbourne

Police have seized a dog and arrested a woman after an incident in Eastbourne.

It was reported that a man was attacked by the dog near Langney Pond in Sandpiper Walk at about 3.10pm yesterday (21st September 2026).

The 44-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. A 53-year-old woman known to him has been arrested on suspicion of being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control.

The dog, believed to be a bull terrier and Doberman cross, has been safely seized and removed from the area.

A nearby school and nursery were kept secure as a precaution while officers and paramedics responded to this incident.

Witnesses and anyone with information such as mobile phone, CCTV or doorbell footage is asked to report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 911.
