Ashdown Radio studio renamed after much-loved colleague

Ashdown Radio's studio has been re-named as "The Martyn Grenfell Studio" following the popular presenters passing in August.

Ashdown Radio director Ryan Millns, yesterday unveiled a lasting tribute to his long time friend and colleague Martyn Grenfell, who sadly lost his courageous battle with cancer on 31st August 2026.

Ryan said, "Martyn was a much loved member of Ashdown Radio, who spent more than 20 years producing and presenting shows for Uckfield FM and later, the re-branded Ashdown Radio. I wanted to ensure that his legacy lived on and what better way to do that than to re-name the studio that he spent so many years in after him" 

Martyn curated great shows and will be remembered for championing local music in East Sussex with his hugely popular evening show, Future Sounds. 

He was also a major figure at local events, including co-hosting Chiddfest and Camper Marmalade alongside Ryan. 

Following his passing, moving tributes poured in from the local broadcasting community, festival organisers and listeners, all remembering him for his humor, enthusiasm, and relentless dedication to supporting new music.
