Devonshire Quarter Facilities Named as Finalists in the Beautiful South Awards

Good news for local tourism.

Two of the facilities within the Devonshire Quarter, the Visitor Services Centre and the DQ Terrace Bar and Café, have been selected as finalists in the prestigious Beautiful South Awards and are due to take home the Gold, Silver or Bronze accolade in their respective categories during the upcoming awards ceremony.

Eastbourne’s Visitor Services Centre has been named as a finalist in the coveted Visitor Information Service of the Year category, recognising visitor information providers which offer an exceptional standard of service and appropriate information. Located within the state-of-the-art Welcome Building, this is the third time that Eastbourne’s visitor services has been shortlisted for this award, previously winning both gold and silver accolades in this category in 2016 and 2018, respectively.

Having been awarded ‘Commended’ status in the 2020/21 awards, the DQ Terrace Bar and Café has been selected as a finalist in the competitive Taste of the South East Award category, recognising establishments within the tourism industry that offer service innovation and excellence, alongside a mouth-watering and inclusive menu.

Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Tourism and Culture, Cllr Margaret Bannister said “We are delighted to learn that two of our venues have been selected as finalists in the Beautiful South Awards.

This recognition reflects the hard work, innovation and dedication from our wonderful staff, and the service that we strive to provide both our residents and visitors. We are excited to find out the results in due course!”

Both the DQ Terrace Bar and Café and the Visitor Services Centre are part of The Devonshire Quarter, the cultural hub of Eastbourne. Following a £54 million transformation in recent years, the Devonshire Quarter previously won Gold as the Business Events Venue of the Year 2020/21 at the Beautiful South Awards.

The DQ Terrace Bar and Café is located within the Devonshire Quarter’s Welcome Building and is open from 9am – 4pm on Monday – Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sundays. Recently launching their brand new menu, the café offer delicious options for breakfast, brunch, light lunches and more, overlooking the award winning grass tennis courts.

Eastbourne Visitor Services Centre is also located within the Devonshire Quarter’s Welcome Building, and is open from 9am – 5pm Monday – Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sundays. Providing excellent insight and knowledge into the local area, visitors and residents can also pop in to purchase theatre tickets, bus tickets, gifts and more.
