Eastbourne car park to close due to 'safety concerns arising from large potholes and uneven surfaces'

The Beatty Road car park in Eastbourne is scheduled to close on 13 April 2026 due to significant safety concerns, including large potholes and uneven surfaces

Closure Details:-

• Location: Beatty Road car park, Eastbourne.
• Closure Date: Starting from 13 April 2026.
• Scope: The closure applies to both vehicles and pedestrians.
• Enforcement: Barriers and fencing will be installed. Any vehicles remaining in the car park after the closure date will be obstructed and unable to exit. 

   

Reason for Closure:-

A spokesperson for Tobis Holdings stated the closure is necessary for "essential repair works" to address safety risks. The planned works include: 

• Replacing the underground surface water drainage system and soakaways.
• Comprehensive resurfacing to fix deep potholes and uneven ground. 

   

Access for Shops and Visitors:-

• Local Shops: All businesses in the area will remain open and accessible via designated footpath routes.
• Parking Alternatives: Visitors are encouraged to walk to the site or use lawful parking on nearby public roads.
• Duration: There is currently no confirmed reopening date, as the management may extend the period to ensure all safety standards are met.
