Eastbourne featured in BBC’s TV show Shift the Thrift

Eastbourne was featured in the series finale (Series 1, Episode 12) of the BBC One show Shift the Thrift, which aired in April 2026.

Hosted by Joanna Page, the episode followed siblings David and Theresa as they competed to raise funds for the charity DKMS.

Episode Highlights

• The Challenge: The siblings had a £100 budget and 60 minutes to find items in Eastbourne's charity shops.
• Key Finds:
  • David gambled on a set of Queen Anne style nesting tables (Joanna's "pick of the day"), which he sent for a traditional French polish restoration.
  • Theresa focused on sustainable fashion, upcycling a blazer and floral dress into a bespoke three-piece outfit.
• Locations: Filming took place in the town centre, including the East Sussex WRAS Charity Shop.
• The Result: David raised the most money individually, but combined, the pair raised £282.51 for DKMS.
