Why Worthing Pier Placed in the Top 5

  • Historic Resilience: Opened in 1862, the 984-foot structure achieved Grade II-listed status in 2009. It famously survived a 1913 storm, a massive fire in 1933, and tactical demolition by British Army explosives in 1940 to deter German invasion forces.
  • Architecture & Entertainment: The landmark features striking 1920s Art Deco architecture, an amusement arcade dating back to 1935, and the functional Pavilion Theatre at its shoreward end.
  • Food & Public Appeal: Reviewers highly rated its culinary options, including the Perch on the Pier restaurant situated inside the Southern Pavilion. It is also highly regarded for being uncommercialised and remaining a premier spot for local angling.
