Fireworks to Bring a Glittering Finale to Airbourne

Fireworks will bring a glittering finale to four days of flying displays at this year’s Airbourne: Eastbourne International Airshow, which returns from 13 – 16 August.

In addition to closing this year’s packed flying showcase, the fireworks will also celebrate 30 years of Frontier Fireworks in a spectacular display.

The annual Airbourne firework finale regularly attracts thousands of spectators and is this year supported by Elite Medical, Eastbourne Hospitality Association and Frontier Fireworks.

The team at Frontier Fireworks have designed a bespoke show featuring a host of new effects and a high-energy soundtrack, launching shells, mines, candles, and cakes up to a height of 650ft into the night sky.

Spectators can look out for a dedicated sequence showcasing a full colour palette, plus some of the team’s signature effects including red swimming stars across the horizon and crossettes splitting in multiple directions, an exciting blue and red mine sequence and red howling tails. The grand finale will feature a spectacular sequence of dazzling signature golden brocade and ‘dragon eggs’ finish.

The sparkling display on Sunday 16 August will mark the end of four days of incredible flying displays and will take place at the Wish Tower Beach from 9pm.

The countdown begins beforehand with Radio Airbourne 87.7FM, sponsored by Caffyns, with music on the seafront from 8pm.

In addition to Sunday’s fireworks display, Eastbourne Bandstand will host tribute shows over the Airbourne weekend with performances paying homage to George Michael on Thursday evening, Bee Gees on Friday night and Lewis Capaldi on Saturday evening.

Also warming up the crowds each morning is Fergus, providing a free to enjoy pre-flight DJ set at the Bandstand.

Airbourne returns from 13 – 16 August and entry is free. The flying line-up at the UK’s Best Free Airshow* includes the RAF Red Arrows, Typhoon, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Tutor, Red Devils Army Parachute Display Team, Royal Navy Black Cats and Wasp, MiG-17, Rich Goodwin Jet Pitts, The Starlings, Firebirds, Stampe Formation Team, Spitfire, P51-D Mustang ‘Marinell’ and Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers.

For the best views of all the flying, fans can book a premium spot in front of all the action with exclusive seating at the Bandstand or hospitality options which include The Departure Lounge viewing enclosure with a premium barbecue and drinks package, all in an informal garden setting.
