Free NHS Health Checks are available across East Sussex throughout July 2026 via a community wellness roadshow delivered by One You East Sussex in partnership with the East Sussex County Council.
Residents can access these free 30-minute screenings without an appointment by visiting "COLIN", the mobile outreach campervan touring various towns and community venues.
Mobile Roadshow & Broad Access
- Drop-in service: No pre-booking is required for the mobile van; residents can simply hop onboard during scheduled community stops, such as the Eastbourne Market.
- Alternative options: If you cannot visit the mobile outreach van, you can check eligibility or book community slots through the One You East Sussex Health Check Page or by calling their hub directly at 01323 404600.
- GP Surgeries: Local GP practices across East Sussex are also continuing to roll out invitations to eligible registered patients.
Eligibility Requirements
To receive a free NHS Health Check from the roadshow or your doctor, you must meet the following criteria:
- Age: You must be aged between 40 and 74 years old.
- Location: You must be a resident of East Sussex (excluding Brighton and Hove).
- Health status: You must not have a pre-existing diagnosis or be taking medication for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, high cholesterol, or atrial fibrillation.
- Frequency: You must not have received an NHS Health Check within the last 5 years.
What the 30-Minute Screening Includes
The check-up serves as a cardiovascular health MOT and consists of:
- Biometric tests: Height, weight, and body mass index (BMI) measurements.
- Circulatory checks: A standard blood pressure test.
- Blood analysis: A finger-prick blood test to check cholesterol levels (and diabetes screening if you qualify).
- Lifestyle consultation: A private discussion with a trained health coach covering family medical history, alcohol intake, diet, and physical exercise.
- Instant results: You will receive your results immediately alongside custom advice to reduce your 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease, with data automatically forwarded to your GP practice.
For the most up-to-date schedule of exactly where COLIN the campervan will be parking this week, you can check the updates directly via the East Sussex County Council Health Check Guide.
