Hailsham Christmas Market Returns this Weekend

The Hailsham Christmas Market will take place in Vicarage Field this weekend on Saturday 13 December, from 9am to 2.30pm.

The market is a community occasion that allows residents and visitors to enjoy seasonal activities, support local traders and craftspeople and experience the town’s strong community spirit.

A broad range of stalls will be available, offering handcrafted gifts, locally produced goods and festive treats suitable for those seeking last-minute Christmas presents.

Confirmed traders include Misty Acres (flowers), Sister’s Sweets n Sips (confectionery), Mini Mouthfuls (fudge), Casa Mex (Mexican clothing and gifts), Bumbling Bee Man (honey), The Rum Infusionist (rum products), Crafty Creations (gifts), Simply Sussex Produce (hampers and gifts), Caromacare (aromatherapy products), J’s Bakes & Cakes (baked goods), Polly’s Patchwork (quilts and accessories), Harold’s Hog Roast (pork) and Scrumdiddlyumptious (sweets).

Further stalls will offer waffles, fossils, gemstones, calendars and skincare products , and a tombola will also be available. Local cafés and food vendors will serve mulled drinks, hot chocolate, mince pies and other festive refreshments.

Cllr Anne Marie Ricketts, Chair of the Town Council’s Communities Committee, said: “The Christmas Market not only enhances the festive atmosphere in the town centre but also reflects the strong sense of community for which Hailsham is known. The event supports local businesses and community organisations, contributes to the local economy and provides enjoyable experiences for people of all ages.”

“We are grateful to council staff, traders and volunteers whose support helps ensure the success of the event.”

Live entertainment will take place throughout the day, including performances by The Sussex Stompers and The Jackettes, offering a programme of jazz and vintage-style Christmas music. Santa Claus will attend with his sleigh courtesy of Hailsham Rotary Club, and Hailsham FM will broadcast live from the market, providing music.

Alongside the main market, Hailsham Farmers’ Market will be held at the Cattle Market site from 9am to 12.30pm, offering a selection of locally produced goods. Hailsham FM will also be present during the morning to support the event.

To conclude the day’s activities, Wealden Brass will present a Christmas concert at Hailsham Parish Church at 2.30pm, featuring traditional and contemporary seasonal music.

Cllr Ricketts added: “With live music, festive refreshments and a visit from Santa, the programme offers something for all ages! We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors and hope the event will be enjoyed by the whole community.”
