Hailsham Christmas Market to Take Place on Saturday 13 December

The Town Council is excited to announce that the annual Hailsham Christmas Market will be held in Vicarage Field on Saturday 13 December, from 9am to 2.30pm.

This established community event provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy seasonal activities, support local traders and craftspeople, and experience the town’s strong community spirit.

A wide selection of market stalls will be available, offering handcrafted gifts, locally produced goods and a variety of festive treats – ideal for those seeking last-minute Christmas presents.

Confirmed traders for this year’s market include: Misty Acres (flowers), One of a Kind (children’s clothing and gifts), Love 1918 (wax melts), Ace Knits & Bits (haberdashery), Jo Ro Bakes & Daisy Designs (baked goods and gifts), Mouse House Cheese (waxed cheeses), Sister’s Sweets n Sips (confectionery), Mini Mouthfuls (fudge), M & D Crafts (gifts), Casa Mex (Mexican clothing and gifts), Bumbling Bee Man (honey), Simply Sussex Produce (hampers and gifts), J’s Bakes & Cakes (baked goods) and Scrumdiddlyumptious (sweets).

Additional stalls will offer crochet items, books, waffles and seasonal products, and there will also be a tombola. Local cafés and food vendors will provide mulled drinks, hot chocolate mince pies and other seasonal refreshments.

Cllr Anne Marie Ricketts, Chair of the Town Council’s Communities Committee, said: “Our Christmas events remain a key part of Hailsham’s annual calendar, providing an opportunity for families, residents and visitors to come together and celebrate the season. The Christmas Market not only contributes to the festive atmosphere in the town centre, but also reflects the strong sense of community that Hailsham is known for.”

“The event supports local businesses and community organisations, contributes to the local economy and creates enjoyable experiences for people of all ages. We are grateful to council staff, traders and volunteers whose involvement helps make the event a success each year.”

The Christmas Market is part of the Town Council’s ongoing commitment to promoting local enterprise and supporting small businesses, community groups and charities by offering them a platform to engage with the public and showcase their work.

The event will also feature live entertainment throughout the day, including performances by The Sussex Stompers and The Jackettes, offering a mix of jazz and vintage-style Christmas music. Santa Claus will make an appearance with his sleigh (courtesy of Hailsham Rotary Club), and Hailsham FM will broadcast live from the market, providing music.

In addition to the main market, Hailsham Farmers’ Market will take place at the Cattle Market site from 9am to 12.30pm, offering a variety of locally produced goods. Hailsham FM will also be present during the morning to support the event.

To conclude the day’s activities, Wealden Brass will present a Christmas concert at Hailsham Parish Church at 2.30pm, featuring a programme of traditional and contemporary seasonal music.

Cllr Ricketts added: “With live music, festive refreshments and a visit from Santa, the programme offers something for all ages. We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors and hope this year’s Christmas events will be enjoyed by the whole community.”
