The Care Quality Commission (CQC) officially cancelled the registration of Hailsham Medical Group on 24 April 2026.
This regulatory action followed an unannounced inspection at Seaforth Farm Surgery which uncovered severe, systemic failures across the practice.
Key Reasons for the Closure
The CQC enforced the closure after identifying persistent issues that put patient safety at risk:
- Systemic Governance Failures: A severe breakdown in effective management and practice oversight.
- Inadequate Care: Critical concerns regarding the delivery of safe and effective medical treatment.
- Staffing Deficiencies: Insufficient staffing levels to safely operate the practice.
Information for Impacted Patients
Patients registered with the medical group do not need to take external action to maintain their healthcare access.
- New Service Provider: The NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board transferred the practice's entire patient roster over to Manor Park Surgery (operated by Vita Healthcare).
- Continuity of Appointments: Patients automatically transferred to the new provider. Bookings, contact methods, and appointments remain active within Hailsham without service interruption.
If you are a registered patient, let me know if you need help finding contact information for the new provider or guidance on how to request your medical records.
