The local 80-year-old woman was taken to hospital after a crash near Waitrose supermarket.
Station Road in Heathfield was closed whilst emergency services responded to the collision.
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “Emergency services were called to Station Road, Heathfield, shortly after 6.20pm on October 21 to reports of a collision.
“The incident involved a single car, which had hit the central reservation.
“The driver, a woman in her 80s, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital. The amazing people of Heathfield, including a nurse and doctor, made sure she was very well looked after.”
