Cakes for Apes cake sale: between 10am and 5pm on Saturday, 9 April at The Open Market in Marshalls Row, Brighton BN1 4JU and here in Uckfield 11am and 2pm on Monday, 11 April in Uckfield High Street, near Hartfields.
Cakes for Apes takes place throughout April. Now in its fifth year, the event sees people all around the world holding cake sales and tea parties to raise money to support IAR’s orangutan conservation project in Indonesia.
Says event organiser Phily Kennington: “Everyone has been through such a difficult time during the past two years, both personally and professionally, and the pandemic hit our community fundraising activities particularly hard. Now, finally, we’re hoping our supporters can bounce back to normal, get baking and hold face to face events with friends, family and colleagues.
“Cakes for Apes is a great way to have fun and get your community involved in helping to protect orangutans and their forest habitat. The opportunities for taking part are endless! We rely entirely on public donations to fund our conservation project and we created Cakes for Apes as a way for everyone to get involved. After all, who doesn’t love cake!
"We’re hoping lots of people will visit our two sales in the upcoming week, enjoy some delicious cake and spare a moment to chat to us about IAR’s work helping orangutans!
