Local Cycle firm supports local triathletes

The Cycleshack, a Sussex based business, which has 4 stores located in Eastbourne, Lewes and East Grinstead has provided up and coming elite Triathletes Abi and Jamie Bedwell each with their own bicycle

It's so they are ready for professional competition in the 2022 season and beyond.

Abi and Jamie who live, work and train in Eastbourne are currently competing in the British Elite Triathlon Super Series, a collection of events that rank the best rising multi-discipline athletes over the combined swim, cycle and running events.

The couple, who got married in March 2019, train with Team Bodyworks, a British Triathlon performance satellite centre, with over 20 years experience coaching triathletes of all levels.

The competition bicycles retail together at well over £15,000 and both athletes are only weeks away from their first appearances on them. Jamie, will be competing on his Trek Speed Concept which is a time trial bike used for races in which athletes compete individually throughout the race.

Jamie’s first competition is in Alcudia, Mallorca on May 7th as he takes on the half Ironman (70.3 miles) race. Abi, will be competing on her Orbea Orca OMX which is a road bike and is used for drafting races where athletes work together whilst cycling to maintain the best possible speed.

Abi’s first competition will be in Llanelli, Wales, the first round of the British Elite Triathlon Super Series and also the opportunity to qualify for European competition.

Jamie and Abi will also be competing locally in the Eastbourne Olympic distance triathlon held on Sunday June 10th and Jamie will be competing in his longest race yet on Sunday July 12th also in Eastbourne covering the Ironman distance, swimming, cycling, and running 140.6 miles in total.

Jamie and Abi commented on their new partnership with the Cycleshack saying: “We are extremely grateful to the Cycleshack for their support. Steve (owner of the 4 stores) has shown us a great level of commitment in providing us with these bikes and we are very excited not only for the upcoming season but also to show Steve what we are capable of with his support.
