The Sussex Sharks hopes for reaching the quarter finals of the T20 Blast were all but ended last night, following their six wicket defeat at the hands of Hampshire, as Paul Farbrace’s side struggled and were second best for much of the action, with the Sharks now having lost their last three games in the competition, and sit sixth in the South with two games still to play.
Over to local cricket, Crowborough narrowly beat a strong Newhaven side by just 31 runs, as Uckfield Anderida managed an even closer victory in their 14 run win over Ringmer 2nd’s, while Buxted Park fell to a 22 run defeat against Eastbourne.
Elsewhere, Heathfield Park lost by three wickets against Ditchling, while Newick fell to a 51 run defeat versus Mayfield, with Isfield making it seven wins on the bounce to continue their title charge as they claimed a seven wicket victory over Polegate & Stone Cross.
Meanwhile, Plumpton & East Chiltington earned a four wicket victory versus Rottingdean 2nd’s, with Barcombe beating Crawley Down by five wickets, as Fletching fell to a heavy nine wicket loss against Lingfield.
Lastly in cricket, Rotherfield earned a great result with a six-wicket win over an inform Bell Yew Green 2nd’s side, while Nutley lost to Pett by four wickets, as Blackboys claimed a convincing eight wicket win against third-placed Selmeston and Alciston, with Hadlow Down suffering a nine wicket loss to Newhaven 2nd’s.
Finally in football now, where Crowborough Athletic continued their unbeaten start to pre-season as they beat Lancing 3-0, while AFC Uckfield Town fell to a close 2-1 defeat away against Crowhurst.
