Man dies after van plunges over cliffs in Peacehaven

A male driver has died after his white van plunged 160 feet over a cliff edge at a beauty spot in Peacehaven, East Sussex.

Incident Details

  • Time and Date: The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 PM BST on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. 
  • Location: Emergency services responded to the clifftop near Seaview Road. The vehicle crashed through a section of perimeter fencing and landed on the rocky beach below at Friar's Bay. 
  • Casualty: The driver—the sole occupant of the vehicle—was located inside the wreckage and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet formally identified him.

A multi-agency emergency presence descended on the area immediately following the crash.
