A 53-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene of a serious road collision involving a lorry near Hailsham

Incident Details

  • Date & Time: Thursday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 9:25 AM. 
  • Location: At the Boship Roundabout on the A267 (New North Street) in Lower Dicker, Hailsham. 
  • Vehicles Involved: A motorcycle and a lorry. Wealden District Council confirmed the lorry was an environmental response vehicle owned by its contractor, Biffa. 
  • Emergency Response: Crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex attended and treated the man, but he was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Investigation and Current Status

  • Arrests: Sussex Police confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
  • Road Closures: The A267 was closed in both directions between the A22 Hailsham Bypass (Boship Roundabout) and the B2104 North Street for most of the day while crash investigators examined the scene.
  • Next of Kin: The victim's family has been informed.
