MAYFACS, a community organisation based in Mayfield and Five Ashes is celebrating
It's after being awarded vital funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK, to enable them to develop and enhance their services over the next 3 years – to survive and thrive.
MAYFACS will use their funding to continue to support a wide range of vulnerable people, combatting isolation and loneliness, promoting general health and improving the quality of life for members of the community.
This new National Lottery funding will allow MAYFACS to broaden their reach with increasing the range of activities and support provided, deliver dependable services and increase opportunities for volunteers in their next stage of development as a key part of the Mayfield and Five Ashes Community. MAYFACS will also continue to develop the Community Shed project bringing opportunities for skill development, regular activities and sessions, and intergenerational projects.
National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.
Lucy Jervis, MAYFACS Manager said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can develop and build on the valuable services we already offer, and work towards reaching more people in our rural community. Our weekly activities, trips and service provisions are a lifeline to many of our residents, but we can do more and support more people, of all ages, to combat isolation and loneliness. This will make a big difference to many people living in our community.”
During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK.
