Mims Davies MP meets with Gatwick on jobs, Investment and Opportunities

Mims Davies MP took the time during the Conservative Party Conference to meet with Gatwick, following the request of residents, on jobs, investment, and opportunities for social mobility and transport upgrades to make second runway work. Mims also discussed what opportunities and more would be available for the residents of EGU.

This meeting was even more pivotal following the approval of Gatwick's 2nd runway which constituents have shared a large number of worries, concerns, and questions about with Mims.

Constituents, some of whom live only 5 minutes away from Gatwick airport have raised concerns about aircraft noise, air pollution, climate change targets, and other environmental issues which Mims has raised directly with the team on their behalf.

Mims Davies MP said:

“Thank you to the Gatwick team for taking the time to talk to me at CPC25.

Gatwick is a huge topic of conversation for many of my constituents, some of whom live only 5 minutes away from the airport and have huge concerns on what the 2nd runway will mean for them and how it will impact their day to day lives.

I can assure residents I will continue to push for the upgrades we need on our roads and railways, the easing of rail bottlenecks at Croydon and road queues at Felbridge amongst many others, champion key infrastructure projects such as the Brighton Mainline 2 linking Uckfield, Lewes and Brighton, work to improve bus services to Crawley from East Grinstead, vastly improve our East/West connectivity and upgrade diesel trainlines.

It was useful to meet with the team again and update them on the worries and concerns I've received from residents, and I will be posting a further update and meeting with the team again shortly.

So, if you are a resident and have questions about the Gatwick expansion, please do not hesitate to contact me – Mims.Davies.MP@parliament.uk – or please read my statement on my website.”
