MP Nusrat Ghani opens new Hailsham Boxing Club facility

Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, officially opened the new Hailsham Boxing Club facility at Unit 15 on the Station Road Industrial Estate

The launch event successfully secured the club's future following a period of critical uncertainty. 

Facility Upgrades & Club Profile

  • New Equipment: The expanded premises house two full-size boxing rings alongside a dedicated gym.
  • Current Membership: The club serves 180 members across all age ranges, welcoming adults, children, boys, and girls.
  • Affiliation: The program is fully affiliated with England Boxing.
  • Inclusivity: Training is structured for all ability levels. Low-cost monthly memberships start at £5 per month to maintain community accessibility.

Funding & Community Support

The relocation project rescued the club after its previous venue was declared unsafe nine months prior. Survival and relocation were made possible through localized and national funding streams: 

 

  • Hailsham Town Council: Provided a critical grant of up to £15,000 via Hailsham Town Council to cover rent and immediate relocation costs.
  • Local Groups: Strategic support was provided directly by Hailsham Active and surrounding local businesses.
  • National Partnerships: Strategic sports backing was provided by Empire Fighting Chance alongside Matchroom Boxing.
