Person taken to hospital after crash on A27 Pevensey Bypass

A single-vehicle crash on the A27 Pevensey Bypass on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, resulted in one person being taken to the Conquest Hospital with minor injuries.

  • The Incident: A single-vehicle road traffic collision occurred on the bypass near Stone Cross, Westham. 
  • The Emergency Response: South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) crews came across the scene shortly after 4:30 pm. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service deployed one engine from Eastbourne to safely release the patient from the vehicle. 
  • Road Impact: Sussex Police temporarily closed the A27 in both directions between the Stone Cross (A22 Golden Jubilee Way) roundabout and the Pevensey Services roundabout to recover the vehicle. The route was safely reopened by 5:00 pm.
