Residents have been urged to remain vigilant after a report of a pigeon being shot in Hailsham.
East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service (WRAS) reported the incident, revealing the bird was killed while flying over a garden in Bramble Drive.
Although the bird's body was disposed of before the cause of death could be confirmed, the nature of the report has prompted a warning to the public.
WRAS said: "Shooting at wildlife in residential areas is not only cruel and dangerous, but it may also be illegal."
