Plans have been submitted to convert a former storage unit in Polegate into a new sauna and wellness facility.
Location and Facilities
The proposed facility would be located at Chaucer Business Park on Dittons Road (Unit F2). According to the planning statement, the site will include:
- Sauna facilities and a dedicated relaxation space.
- Essential amenities such as a reception area, changing rooms, showers, and toilets.
- Environmental controls, including mechanical ventilation to manage heat and humidity and prevent condensation.
Operational Details
To ensure the facility remains a quiet addition to the business park, the following measures are proposed:
- Pre-booking only: The facility will operate strictly on a pre-booked basis.
- Capacity limits: Occupancy will be capped at a maximum of 15 clients at any one time.
- Staggered timings: Arrival and departure times will be staggered to manage parking demand and keep it "modest and predictable".
Planning Status
The application (reference WD/2026/0412/FR) seeks a change of use to Class E (commercial, business, and service). The plans were officially lodged around March 10–12, 2026, and are currently awaiting a decision from the local planning department
