Red Arrows to Return with Four Day Festival of Flying at Eastbourne Airshow

Eastbourne International Airshow this summer with a crowd-pleasing four-day display programme from 17 – 20 August

Joining the fans favourite will be the RAF’s formidable Typhoon fast jet, the versatile RAF Tutor T1 and the historic Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, all of which represent a full contingent of aerobatic flying displays from the RAF.

Supporting the local economy, the free seafront airshow regularly attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors across the two-mile display line and this year will celebrate its 29th year.

As a result of the announcement, fans can look forward to an impressive 15 RAF flying displays in total across all four days of the airshow, with the Red Arrows, Tutor T1 and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight - this year featuring the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane - all performing every day, and the Typhoon flying over three days from Friday to Sunday.

Other aerobatic displays, including helicopters, will be announced over the coming months, along with details of the ground displays from both the RAF and Army.

Councillor Margaret Bannister, Eastbourne Borough Council’s Lead Member for Tourism & Culture, said, “To receive 15 RAF flying displays over the four days already is phenomenal news.  Now the work begins on confirming the rest of the flying programme with more fast jets, historic aircraft, helicopters and parachute displays to come.

As last year, we can only book these displays with enough financial support from businesses and airshow fans, so I would urge everyone to support the show in any way they can – from joining the Supporters Club to booking airshow seating, sponsoring a flying display and much more.”

Airshow fans can support the show now by joining the Airbourne Supporters Club.  With prices from £25 to £50, members will receive a range of goodies including limited edition pin badges, tshirts, posters, bar discounts, souvenir programme and access to VIP toilet facilities on the Western Lawns.

Those looking for the perfect spot to watch the displays can book now for Exclusive Seating at the Bandstand, or simply support with a one-off donation or join as an Airbourne Ambassador with donations starting at £2 a month to support the show all year round.

Businesses can support the show by booking sponsorship, programme advertising, trade space, big screen advertising, Radio Airbourne advertising, banners and much more.

Organisers continue to take steps to reduce the show’s carbon footprint and last year welcomed the world’s first certified electric plane.  Working with Eastbourne’s ECO Action Network and Plastic Free Eastbourne, the Council will be extending these initiatives and aiming to support the promotion of STEM activities at the event.
