Star Cars Set to Sparkle at Magnificent Motors

Magnificent Motors returns this Bank Holiday weekend from Saturday 2 – Sunday 3 May, with a number of star cars and rare autos on display on the Western Lawns and Wish Tower Slopes.

Established as one of the biggest free to visit motoring festivals on the south coast, the two-day spectacular in Eastbourne is gearing up with more than 600 motoring exhibits, plus a live music stage, brand new arena, funfair, retailers, food outlets and bar.

Some rare finds on display this year include one of only two Edsel Corsair convertibles in the UK, a Riley Special 1930s tourer, the UK’s only supercharged A series MG Metro and a FIAT 124 Spider, originally owned by the Chairman of the New York Yankees - and rescued from a barn where it sat for 22 years.

A Mustang Convertible winner from the Automobile Club of America Hershey Show will make a special appearance, along with a VW bus which started life as an ambulance in South Africa in 1967, and an ex Met Police Panda Car - driven by the current owner as a serving officer back in 1968.

Motoring fans will also have their pick from a range of exhibits, from modern day supercars, Italian roadsters and American muscle cars to vintage tourers, cool retros and luxury models including Porsche, Jaguar, Lotus and many more.

The Teddy Bear Run will also bring a special display from the charity which combines teddies and cars to provide care packages and make amazing memories for families with children who have life limiting conditions.

Alongside the motoring displays, this year visitors can also for the first time enjoy live interviews with classic car owners in a brand new arena showcase.

From famous owners and appearances in TV and film, to tales of restoration, visitors will be able to learn more about the people and the back stories behind some of the fascinating vehicles on display.

Joining the new arena, a live music stage will set the soundtrack for the weekend with performances from Billy Joel tribute act Matt Armstrong, The Abba Girls tribute, rock n roll from Jackie & the Fabulous Jackettes and pop classics from Hunky Dory frontman Steve Dunnett.

An Eastbourne Borough Council spokesperson said “This year’s Magnificent Motors is set to sparkle more than ever. Marvel at these incredible motors, discover their fascinating back stories and soundtrack your weekend with our vibrant programme of live music and chat.”

In addition to the classic cars on display, visitors can discover more about the latest in EV technology from local dealerships.  Funfair attractions will also be available for all the family throughout the weekend, as well as a range of retailers, food outlets and a bar.

Magnificent Motors is supported by PRG Marketing Communications, Seahaven FM, The Hive Sound Events and Signtek. The event returns from Saturday 2 – Sunday 3 May, from 10.30am to 4.30pm each day and entry is free to spectators.
