Sussex Weald MP Nursrat Ghani criticises South East Water

Sussex Weald MP Nusrat Ghani has strongly criticised South East Water after a series of major water outages left hundreds of her constituents with low water pressure or dry taps

She accused the utility provider of leaving residents "high and dry" and slammed the disruption as an "unacceptable failure" that poorly coincided with a newly introduced hosepipe ban. 

Key Criticisms and Actions Taken

• Imposition of Curfews: Ghani voiced intense frustration on Nusrat Ghani's Official Website after the company unexpectedly introduced regional "water curfews" in Crowborough and Heathfield, despite assurances that the hosepipe ban would stabilise the network. 
• Failure to Help the Vulnerable: She reported severe operational failures, including assisted living complexes being left entirely without water. In other areas, multipacks of bottled water were dumped in locations physically inaccessible to vulnerable residents. 
• Demands for Executive Transparency: Ghani targeted South East Water's new CEO, John Halsall, demanding full transparency regarding the true scale of the network crisis and the likelihood of more summer outages. 
• Housing Infrastructure Alarms: She warned via the Sussex Weald Conservatives that regional plans to construct tens of thousands of new homes will catastrophically exacerbate an already "creaking" water system. 
• Widespread Service Failures: The MP has logged formal complaints regarding supply disruption spanning the entire constituency, including Broad Oak, Frant, Crowborough, East Hoathly, and Heathfield.
