Two men charged following series of vehicle thefts in East Sussex

Two men have been charged following a number of car thefts which took place in Bexhill and St Leonards across July, August and September this year.

Following enquiries, on 23 September, officers conducted a warrant at an address in Bexhill and arrested a man in connection with the investigation.

A second man was also arrested the same day in connection with enquiries after a vehicle stop in West View, Hastings.

Later the same day (23 September), Jake Simms, 31, of no fixed address, was charged with burglary, conspiring to steal a motor vehicle and three counts of fraud by false representation.

And Terrence Bailey, 39, of Priory Road, Hastings, was charged with conspiring to steal a motor vehicle and two counts of failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

They both appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 24 September and were remanded into custody ahead of their next court appearance at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 22 October.
