Uckfield green space refurbished by charity through £1500 donation

East Sussex charity, the Uckfield Millennium Green Trust, has received a £1,500 donation from David Wilson Homes to support the refurbishment of the gravel paths surrounding the Millennium Green.

The improvements will help ensure the much-loved green space remains accessible throughout the year as it celebrates its 26th anniversary.

The Millennium Green is a valued green space in the heart of Uckfield, providing the local community with easy access to nature. A popular destination for relaxing walks, family outings and wildlife spotting, it plays an important role at the heart of the town.

The donation to the Trust will help prevent the entrance pathway from flooding and becoming muddy, improving year-round access while supporting the ongoing upkeep of this valued community space.

Managed by the Uckfield Millennium Green Trust, all work associated with the Green is carried out by Trustees and volunteers. The recent £1,500 donation comes from The Barratt Redrow Foundation, David Wilson Homes’ charity arm which supports children, young people, and environmental groups in communities where Barratt Redrow PLC operates across the UK.

Nigel Williams, Trustee at Uckfield Millennium Green Trust, said: “Maintaining the Green as a tranquil space for the community to visit throughout the year is at the heart of what we do. All our work is supported by volunteers and donations, and this is why the very kind donation from David Wilson Homes is important to us and very much appreciated.”

Phil Hurring, Marketing Manager at Barratt Redrow Southern Counties said: “Uckfield Millennium Green Trust continues to enable the community to enjoy access to nature and outdoor spaces. We're proud to support as part of our ongoing commitment to areas around our developments. Working with the Trust has shown us its fantastic impact on the local community firsthand and the importance of preservation of green spaces. We are now looking forward to seeing the positive impact the path refurbishment will have on the area.” Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes have a variety of developments across East Sussex, including David Wilson Homes’ Beauchamp Gate in Uckfield, a newly launched development that features a range of two- to five-bedroom homes. Prices start from £347,500 for a two-bedroom home and £550,000 for a four-bedroom house.
