Vehicle seized by police in Eastbourne during patrol around town

On 15 February 2026, Sussex Police seized a vehicle in Eastbourne after a routine traffic stop escalated into a more serious legal issue.

Incident Details:-

Initial Stop: Officers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) initially intercepted the driver for failing to give way to pedestrians on a crossing.
Discovery: While the officers intended only to offer advice, they discovered the driver's licence had expired once it was produced for identification.
Action Taken: The vehicle was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act, and the driver was issued a summons for the offences
