Weekend Sporting Report

Crowborough Athletic moved up to seventh place in the table after a two-nil home victory over Alfold.

However it was another disappointing day for AFC Uckfield Town, as they went down to a three-one defeat at Loxwood.

In the Mid Sussex League, Ridgewood lost two-one at Ditchling.  Newick won an amazing game at Portslade by six goals to four.  Barcombe beat Nutley three-one, while Fletching lost four-one at Burgess Hill Rhinos and Hartfield were beaten three-nil at Athletico Shrublands.

Elsewhere, in cup competitions, Jarvis Brook were five-one winners against Rustington.  Plumpton beat Royal Earlswood Reserves three-one, but Rotherfield lost four-one at Bosham

In the Isthmian Premier Division, Lewes’s play-off hopes suffered a setback with a two-nil defeat at Aveley.

There was disappointment too for Brighton and Hove Albion, as they conceded the only goal in the 88^th minute against Fulham at the Amex Stadium.

For local rugby, Uckfield moved up to third place after a narrow 27-24 victory at local rivals Burgess Hill.  Meanwhile, there was a good win for Crowborough, who overcame Thanet Wanderers by 33 points to seven.
