Local tennis club hosts Open Day on 17th May - all local residents welcome

A friendly, welcoming and thriving tennis club, East Hoathly & Halland has something for everyone, with three floodlit hard courts for social and competitive play catering for all standards, including adults and juniors. Current membership stands at around 200 with an even split between adults and juniors.
This local village tennis club is hosting an open day on Saturday 17th May, all comers from the surrounding areas are welcome to attend. As part of the LTA’s (Lawn Tennis Association) Big Tennis Weekends, current members of East Hoathly & Halland Tennis Club will be on hand at the War Memorial Playing Fields, to welcome potential new members.
Starting at 9.30 am, Club Coach Greg Watson will be running complimentary junior coaching sessions, with Under 8s from 9.30 to 10.30, 9 years and over from 10.30 to 11.30. Court(s) will also be available for adults to have an informal hit. InterSport Lewes will also be in attendance, displaying a variety of rackets for members and guests to try. Complimentary refreshments will be provided and all new memberships taken out on the day will receive a 10% discount.
Friendly games, club sessions, coaching sessions, fun tournaments and match practices are on offer and the club enters two ladies teams in the Sussex League Summer and Winter seasons, plus two mixed teams in the Summer Horam League. In addition, social events are arranged throughout the year.
The ladies first and second teams both gained promotion in last Summer’s Sussex League - the first team won their division by four points and are now playing in division seven; and the second team came a clear second in their division and are now playing in division ten.
Both Horam League teams also performed well last Summer, as the first team missed out on third place in division one by just one point, and the second team took a very creditable fifth place in division two.
Our Head Coach, Greg Watson, offers coaching for all ages and abilities - whether you want to improve doubles skills in our improvers group or become technically more proficient and effective with an individual lesson. Greg is an LTA Accredited+ Level 3 tennis coach with 18 years of tennis coaching experience. He has a Sport Science and Business Studies degree and holds the necessary safeguarding and first aid qualifications.
