Eastbourne Borough were unable to rescue a point despite late pressure, as they lost 2-1 to Chelmsford Town, with Tommy Widdrington’s side conceding twice inside the first ten minutes, and were unable to recover despite growing into the match.

 

Elsewhere, Lewes continued their great form since the return of Craig Nelson by beating Dulwich Hamlet 4-1, with Crowborough Athletic falling to a 2-1 defeat to Beckenham Town.

 

In the Southern Combinations League, AFC Uckfield Town lost 3-0 to Mile Oak, as Jarvis Brook drew 1-1 with Ringmer to now find themselves tenth in the standings.

 

While in the Mid Sussex Leagues, only three teams were able to beat the weather, as Barcombe remained top of their league despite drawing 1-1 with Rotherfield 2nd’s, while Maresfield Village lost 4-2 to Ditchling, with Plumpton Athletic falling to a tight 4-3 defeat to The View.

 

Now in women’s football, Lewes exited the Fa Women’s Cup after losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace in the third round, with The Rooks conceding late in the first half, and were unable to tie the game up in front of a packed Dripping Pan crowd.

 

Finally in the men’s rugby, and there was nothing to split Crowborough with the Beccehamian side they sit level with in the league, as they drew 24-24, while Heathfield & Waldron earned a dominant 50-19 victory over Cranbrook, as Uckfield lost 22-7 to Crowborough 2nd’s.
