Chris Eyre, the local entrepreneur who successfully brought the ice rink back to Eastbourne this winter, has been nominated for a Sussex Business Award.
Chris is a finalist for the prestigious "Entrepreneur of the Year" title.
Key Details of the Nomination
- The Ceremony: The winners will be announced on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Hickstead Showground in Hassocks.
- The Driving Force: Eyre, a "born and bred" Eastbournian, founded Eastbourne Music Fest in 2023 to create affordable live music opportunities following the pandemic.
- The Ice Rink Return: After Eastbourne went without an ice rink last year due to surging costs, Eyre’s team stepped in to organize Winterland at The Waterfront in Sovereign Harbour. Running throughout December 2026, the event features real ice skating, a traditional market, and a Victorian funfair.
Eyre shared that while it is great to be recognized, his efforts have always been entirely about supporting the local economy and his passion for the community.
