Eastbourne board gamers unite once again for fifth annual charity fundraiser

Board game enthusiasts from across Sussex are invited to one of the South's biggest tabletop community events this summer, as the Eastbourne Board Gamers' annual Charity Board Game Bring & Buy returns for its fifth year.

Taking place on Sunday 9 August 2026 from 12pm–3pm at Ratton School, Eastbourne, the popular event combines hundreds of board games for sale with homemade cakes, a charity raffle, free-play gaming area and live game demos – all in aid of Demelza Children's Hospice.

What began as a small fundraiser between friends has grown into a much-anticipated annual event attracting visitors from across the South East.

Last year's event featured more than 700 new and pre-loved board games and raised £2,100 for Demelza Children's Hospice.

This year's organisers hope to beat both attendance and fundraising records.

"It's incredible to see how much this event has grown," said one of the organisers. "What started as a few friends selling spare games has become a fantastic community day out. Whether you're a seasoned gamer, searching for a new family favourite or simply fancy a bit to eat while supporting a brilliant charity, there's something for everyone."

Visitors can browse hundreds of bargains, sell unwanted games, try out new titles at demo tables, support local vendors and enter competitions packed with prizes.

The event welcomes everyone – from lifelong hobby gamers to families looking for their next favourite game.

Every pound raised on the day will support the work of Demelza Children's Hospice, helping provide care and support for children with serious or life-limiting conditions across the South East.
