Eastbourne ranked the best seaside town by Which?

In the July 2026 Which? Travel survey, Eastbourne is ranked as the best seaside town in Sussex, while Bognor Regis is ranked as the worst

The rankings are based on a national poll of thousands of visitors scoring towns on overall satisfaction, beach quality, seafront attractions, scenery, and value for money.

Eastbourne (65% Destination Score) — The highest-rated town in Sussex. It is praised for its historic pier, seafront hotels, and close proximity to the scenic Beachy Head chalk cliffs.

Bexhill-on-Sea (63% Destination Score) — Tied for second place in the region, offering a quieter coastal experience.

Hastings (63% Destination Score) — Shares the second-place spot, highly regarded for its cultural mix, historic old town, and unique fishing beach.

Brighton (60% Destination Score) — Settles into the middle of the ranking, keeping a solid score for its busy beachfront, vibrant nightlife, and shopping.

Worthing (58% Destination Score) — Offers a classic pier and seafront, though it scored lower on tourist variety compared to its neighbours.

Littlehampton (51% Destination Score) — Slips near the bottom of the list, losing points from voters for an under-invested town center and faded winter appeal.

Bognor Regis (41% Destination Score) — Ranked the absolute worst seaside town not just in Sussex, but across the entire UK for the second consecutive year. Visitors gave it poor ratings for its seafront, value for money, and perceived lack of investment, despite local residents actively defending its sunny climate and parks.
