Holocaust Memorial Day offers a moment for communities across the country to pause and remember the millions of people who suffered during the Holocaust and in the genocides that followed.
It is a time to honour those whose lives were taken or forever altered, and to reflect on the importance of challenging prejudice, discrimination and hatred in all its forms.
Eastbourne’s Holocaust Memorial Day event, organised by dedicated local volunteers, will take place on Tuesday 27 January 2026 at 6.30pm at the Welcome Building (next to the Congress Theatre), Carlisle Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4BP. The evening will bring together a meaningful programme of musical performances, poetry and contributions from guest speakers.
For those who cannot attend the event, there are still many meaningful ways to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. Placing a candle safely in your window or posting a message of remembrance on social media can help keep the memory of those who suffered alive. The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust website offers a wide range of resources and information for anyone wishing to learn more or take part.
