Hospice in the Weald announced it is donating its former ward beds to the Medi Tech Trust, an East Sussex-based charity.
The Hospice in the Weald (Pembury) is upgrading its facilities as part of a major refurbishment programme and is donating it's old beds to The Medi Tech Trust, who are an award-winning charity, specializing in medical equipment donation and healthcare training.
Through the medical recycling initiative Medigive, the beds will be repurposed for training, rehabilitation, and overseas care.
The Medi Tech Trust plans to ensure the beds are utilized across various healthcare and support services:
- UK Training: Two colleges training future NHS staff will receive beds for educational use.
- UK Community Care: A community care charity in the West Country will receive a portion of the donation.
- International Support: Any remaining beds will be shipped to hospitals in the Congo and Malawi to help re-equip facilities in low-income regions.
