The week celebrates the invaluable contribution that tourism makes to local economies and communitie
Each year, English Tourism Week also encourages more people to take domestic trips and breaks by showcasing the fantastic range of destinations and services across England.
To encourage local residents to explore the district, a new “Explore Wealden” Guide has been launched by Wealden District Council, including details of all visitor attractions including vibrant market towns, unspoilt views of dramatic coastlines, rolling downland, ancient woodland and stunning heathland. A copy of the guide is available here.
Local MP Nus Ghani said: “English Tourism Week is a perfect opportunity to shine the spotlight on the outstanding heritage sites in Wealden and the contribution of the tourism industry, which creates a myriad of local jobs and supports our economy. We are lucky to have so many fantastic destinations in Wealden including the historic Michelham Priory near Hailsham, the Cuckoo Trail, Nutley windmill and Sheffield Park near Uckfield, the Spa Valley Railway in Eridge, the Ashdown Forest, and of course the many award-winning vineyards. Spring is a great time to revisit our local sites and I would like to encourage Wealden residents to take this opportunity to do so and support them.”
