Local charity trustee takes on epic challenge to raise money for men's mental health support.

Malcolm Bashford, trustee of local children's charity Forward Facing who support children and families across Sussex living with life limiting conditions and bereavement is taking on a super set of six challenges to raise vital funds to support dads and male carers.

Trustee Malcolm has already taken on three of his six challenges to raise money for much needed counselling sessions and respite days for Dads and male carers of children with life limiting conditions. He has already taken on two London to Brighton bike rides and recently completed a 5k run around the Goodwood track. Ahead of him, he has a 10k run to complete as well as the Brighton half marathon and then the famous London marathon to end his super six challenge.

Forward Facing is a local Sussex charity who support families living with life limiting conditions to make lifelong memories and offer support through difficult times. Whether this is through practical support or providing counselling sessions to support family’s mental health and wellbeing in times of trauma. They also hold various fun events that are inclusive and safe for families. Ensuring that Dad's and male carers get the support they need is something Malcolm is keen on embedding in the charity, he said “Dads that are being the strong family anchor are so often hurting like crazy on the inside, as a trustee of Forward Facing I discovered the need for more help for the Dads”

November is Men's health awareness month so it makes Malcolm's challenge even more significant. Forward Facing are aiming to provide more counselling sessions for fathers and to host more respite days for Dads to have some time to have fun and meet others in similar situations.

Those at Forward Facing are dubbing the trustee as Superhero Malcolm as he is somewhat doing the impossible “I'm no athlete, this isn't just a personal challenge, it's about raising much needed funds for the Forward Facing Dad's”

To get behind Malcolm and support his challenge you can donate to his Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/page/malcolm-bashford-8?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL or visit Forward Facing’s Instagram page @forwardfacinguk and use the donation button. Malcolm aims to raise £2500.
