Sussex Cricket are having to rue what could of been after losing their County Championship clash against Somerset by five wickets, with Paul Farbrace’s side putting up a much better performance following on from their poor batting in the opening innings, but were left with too much to do on the final day, although Sussex do remain third in the league table.
Looking at local cricket now, Crowborough made it two wins from two at the start of the season by beating St Peters 3rd’s by 12 runs, while Uckfield Anderida fell to a heavy 231 run loss against Buxted Park 3rd’s, as Buxted Park themselves were defeated against St James Montefiore by 88 runs.
Elsewhere, Heathfield Park earned a three wicket victory against Bexhill, as Isfield trounced Hailsham 2nd’s by nine wickets, while Newick convincingly beating Ringmer by five wickets.
Meanwhile, Barcombe claimed a very close fought six run victory against Edenbridge, as Plumpton & East Chiltington fell to a 51 run loss versus Hurstpierpoint, with Rotherfield beating Hellingly by seven wickets.
Lastly for the cricket, Nutley were defeated by Herstmonceux in a 81 run loss, while Blackboys were able to beat Heathfield Park 2nd’s by 29 runs, as Hadlow Down fell to a seven wicket defeat against Henfield 3rd’s.
Finally now in football, Buxted closed out their season with a 4-2 loss against league winners BN Dons, with the result meaning that Buxted will finish the year sat third in the Division 2 South.
