The Sussex Sharks made it two wins from two to start off their T20 Blast campaign, beating last year's champions Gloucestershire in Hove by 80 runs, with a solid batting performance being led by Tom Alsop’s 58, combining with some phenomenal bowling, as the side took six down inside just eight overs on their way to victory.
While in women’s cricket, Sussex ensured that both teams ended the day with a victory in their double header, as the side beat Gloucestershire by 27 runs, as Rachel King led the side with her 68 runs, with Chiarra Green taking two crucial wickets and a debut wicket from Ava Lee helping to secure the victory.
Over to local cricket now, Crowborough lost by four wickets against Glynde & Beddingham 2nd’s, as Uckfield Anderida’s fell to a seven wicket defeat versus Bell Yew Green 3rd’s, with Buxted Park beating Brighton & Hove by six wickets to claim their first win of the season.
Elsewhere, Heathfield Park lost by 45 runs in their clash with East Grinstead 2nd’s, as Newick fell to a 65 run defeat against top of the league Eastbourne 2nd’s, while Isfield earned a three wicket victory over Mayfield 3rd’s that means they climb up to third.
Meanwhile, Barcombe fell to a six wicket loss in their meeting with Ifield 2nd’s, as Plumpton & East Chiltington managed to beat Crawley Down by 56 runs, with Fletching earning a great result as they defeated Robertsbridge in a strong 194 run victory.
Finally, Rotherfield fell to a 20 run loss versus Dicker, as Blackboys claimed a commanding eight wicket victory against Nutley that sees them now sit in fourth, with Hadlow Down also earning their first win of the season beating Brighton & Hove 5th’s by 138 runs.
