New plans have emerged for 60 new homes in Uckfield

Cala Homes has submitted a Section 73 application to vary the previously approved plans for a 60-house development at the Mockbeggars Farm site in Uckfield.

. The new submission introduces revised drawings and updated floor plans detailing exactly what the proposed properties will look like. 

Key Development Details

• Site Location: The project sits on farmland at Mockbeggars Farm, situated to the east of London Road and north of Ringles Cross. This plot of land was historically considered for a traveller caravan site before transitioning to a residential scheme.
• Planning Background: Outline planning permission was granted on appeal in March 2024, reversing an earlier refusal by Wealden District Council. Reserved matters covering layout, scale, and appearance were subsequently approved in November 2025.
• Scope of Works: In addition to the 60 properties, the infrastructure plan comprises access roads, vehicle parking, open green spaces, and localized landscaping. 

Local Reaction & Next Steps

The progression of this site forms part of a wider influx of regional housebuilding, following closely behind recent Wealden District Council approvals for 205 combined homes across nearby Ridgewood Place, Coopers Green, and Saxon Court. 

The Mockbeggars Farm project has previously drawn scrutiny from both Buxted Parish Council and Uckfield Town Council, with specific objections raised regarding flooding and surface water drainage arrangements. The newly emerged blueprints and construction variations will be subject to further review by district planners.
