Successful search to locate missing person on Eastbourne seafront

A multi-agency search operation successfully located a missing person on the Eastbourne seafront on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.

Incident Overview

Time of Launch: 4:36 am on Tuesday, 3 March.
Response Teams: The operation was a coordinated effort involving Eastbourne RNLI's inshore lifeboat Lizzie Hook, Sussex Police drone officers, and HM Coastguard Rescue Teams.
Location: The search focused on the shoreline along the Eastbourne seafront.

Outcome

Discovery: After approximately 20 minutes of searching, a police drone located the individual and guided the lifeboat and coastguard teams to the exact position.
Resolution: The person was assessed by crews at the scene and handed over to the care of emergency services.

Authorities continue to remind the public to dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard in any coastal emergency.
