Bridge Cottage Open Day, Saturday 2 July:
Bridge Cottage will be open for visitors from 10-00 am to 3-00 pm. Come and see our splendid 15th Century Wealden Hall House.
There will be guided tours of the house at 11-00 am and 1-00 pm, or you can look round independently during the opening hours.
2 Guided walks, arranged as part of Uckfield Festival:
Saturday 2 July – ‘Mills, Hills, Frills & the Millennium Green’. A walk around Ridgewood and southern Uckfield, looking at remnants of industries and services, as well as the lovely countryside around the town. Distance c. 5 miles, with some steep slopes and steps.
Meet outside Bridge Cottage, 10-00 am.
Sunday 10 July – ‘Country Estates to Housing Estates’. This walk looks at traces of the Streatfeild family, water power and parish boundaries, justice and more in the late 20th century housing estates that now occupy the land. Distance c. 4 miles.
Meet outside Bridge Cottage, 10-30 am.
Both walks will be led by Brian Phillips of UDPS. Dogs welcome, no booking required, no charge, but donations to UDPS always welcome.
Bridge Cottage is in Uckfield High Street, opposite the railway station.
