If they don’t get enough volunteers for road closures then Uckfield Carnival will not be able to go ahead.
Uckfield Carnival is two weeks away and we need help from the wonderful Uckfield community. We are looking for some volunteers to help man the road closure points on Saturday 6th September for the evening procession.
Being a road closure volunteer means being available for a briefing at 5pm and then at a set location from 7pm till about 10pm to help drivers find the diversion route and generally make sure no-one moves the road closure barriers until carnival is over, most of the locations have a great view of the carnival and it is an excuse to wear a hi-vis jacket and be part of the town's oldest traditional event which is celebrating it's 198th year. You will not be alone, we aim to have 2 people on each barrier supported by an area marshal, there will also be full instructions and a briefing for volunteers.
